Trump Urges Israel to Embrace Peace in Historic Speech at Knesset
Jerusalem, October 13, 2025 — U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a historic address to Israel’s Parliament (the Knesset) on Monday, urging Israelis to “seize the moment for peace” and move beyond years of conflict in Gaza.
Speaking to lawmakers, Trump declared that the Gaza war was over, calling it “the end of an era of terror and the beginning of hope.” He added:
“This is not just the close of a war; it is the opening of a future built on faith, cooperation, and peace.”
Before the speech, Trump was welcomed by Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu praised Trump as “a steadfast friend of Israel and a partner in peace.”
The session was briefly interrupted when several opposition lawmakers shouted “Recognize Palestine!” and waved banners from the gallery. Security personnel quickly removed the protesters, and Trump joked, “They’re passionate people — that’s democracy.”
In his address, Trump urged Israel to use this “historic window” to pursue sustainable peace and promised that the United States would assist in Gaza’s reconstruction. But he cautioned that “lasting peace must rest on mutual trust and security.”
Trump also called on all sides to focus on reconciliation, saying, “This is not a time for revenge but a time for rebuilding — for unity over division.”
He reaffirmed America’s ongoing commitment to regional stability:
“The United States does not seek conflict. We seek prosperity, cooperation, and lasting peace in the Middle East.”
Political analysts described the speech as both symbolic and strategic, signaling a reset in U.S.–Israel relations after years of turmoil. Critics noted that the address contained few policy details, but most agreed it marked a major diplomatic moment for the region.
Trump’s appearance comes days before the Cairo Peace Conference, where he is expected to meet regional leaders to advance his broader Middle East peace plan.
The Knesset speech is seen not only as a milestone in U.S.–Israel diplomacy but also as a message of hope for a region long divided by war and mistrust.
