PM Shehbaz Sharif Strongly Condemns Al-Aqsa Mosque Attack – 4 August 2025

On August 4, 2025, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern and condemnation over the recent Israeli aggression at the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The incident, which drew criticism globally, involved reports of Israeli forces storming the holy site, disrupting prayers, and clashing with Palestinian worshippers. This action sparked widespread outrage among Muslims and human rights organizations around the world.

PM Shehbaz Sharif described the act as a direct violation of religious freedom and international human rights law. In a strong statement issued from Islamabad, he emphasized that the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites, must be preserved and respected at all costs. He called on the international community, especially the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to take urgent action and hold Israel accountable for its actions.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination. He also reiterated Pakistan’s consistent stance in favor of a two-state solution, with East Jerusalem as the capital of a free and sovereign Palestine.

Meanwhile, mass protests erupted in several countries, including Turkey, Jordan, Indonesia, and Malaysia, where citizens took to the streets demanding justice for Palestinians and an end to Israeli aggression. In Pakistan, various religious and political groups organized peaceful rallies, calling on Muslim leaders to unite in defense of Al-Aqsa and Palestinian rights.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque, located in the Old City of Jerusalem, holds immense religious significance for Muslims, Jews, and Christians alike. Any aggression at the site has the potential to escalate regional tensions and spark wider conflict in the Middle East. PM Shehbaz’s condemnation reflects growing frustration among Muslim-majority nations regarding the continued violence in occupied Palestinian territories.

Pakistan has always maintained a principled position on Palestine, advocating for peace, justice, and a political solution to the conflict. In his recent speech, PM Shehbaz once again urged the global powers to stop turning a blind eye to the oppression of Palestinians and fulfill their moral and legal responsibilities.

As the situation remains tense in Jerusalem, international pressure is mounting for Israel to halt its provocative actions and engage in meaningful peace efforts. The world watches closely as calls for justice and dignity echo from every corner.
