Panasonic Energy to Supply Lithium-Ion Batteries for Amazon’s Zoox from 2026

Panasonic Energy has finalized a significant agreement to supply advanced lithium-ion batteries to Amazon’s autonomous vehicle unit, Zoox, marking one of the most important developments in the robotaxi sector in 2025. Announced on 25 November 2025, the deal positions Panasonic as a crucial energy partner in the rapidly expanding field of self-driving transportation.

According to the company, Panasonic will supply 2170-format cylindrical battery cells, known for their high energy density, improved safety features, and efficient thermal performance. Panasonic confirmed that initial production for Zoox will take place in Japan, where the company already manufactures high-quality EV battery cells for global automakers.
