Palestinian Authority Ready to Help Trump’s Gaza Effort Succeed — Latest Development
Ramallah, October 12, 2025 — The Palestinian Authority (PA) has announced its readiness to cooperate with U.S. President Donald Trump and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair to ensure the success of the Gaza peace and reconstruction efforts. Senior Palestinian official Hussein al-Sheikh confirmed the PA’s intention to take an active role in humanitarian aid, hostage release, and long-term peace initiatives.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), al-Sheikh stated that the Palestinian Authority is fully committed to supporting every stage of peace, stability, and rebuilding in Gaza. He emphasized that cooperation among international partners is crucial for restoring normal life in the war-torn region.
According to Trump and Blair’s proposed plan, Hamas will be required to relinquish control of Gaza, paving the way for a temporary technocratic administration operating under international supervision. Once reforms and governance standards are established, control of Gaza will gradually be transferred to the Palestinian Authority.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the proposal, asserting that the Palestinian Authority cannot be trusted to govern Gaza. He warned that involving the PA could threaten Israel’s national security and undermine the country’s long-term defense interests.
Despite losing direct control of Gaza after Hamas’s 2007 takeover, the Palestinian Authority has continued to provide partial services such as salary payments, education, and electricity distribution across the Strip. This ongoing involvement gives the PA an operational foundation to help in post-war recovery efforts.
Arab and Western analysts believe that if the Palestinian Authority, the Trump administration, and other global partners work jointly, Gaza could see tangible progress in reconstruction and humanitarian relief. However, Hamas’s response, Israeli opposition, and domestic political divisions still pose major challenges.
International observers view this development as a potential turning point for the Middle East — one that could redefine Palestinian governance and peace diplomacy. If the Trump-led plan succeeds, it could mark a new era for Gaza, centered on rebuilding, humanitarian stability, and regional cooperation.
This 12 October 2025 development signals a cautious but hopeful moment in Middle Eastern politics — where, for the first time, the Palestinian Authority seems ready to actively engage in President Trump’s peace initiative for Gaza.
