Pakistan and Türkiye Call for Gaza Ceasefire – Ishaq Dar and Hakan Fidan Speak on 28 July 2025

On Monday, 28 July 2025, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, held an important telephonic conversation with Türkiye’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, to discuss the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Both leaders strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks and called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, along with uninterrupted humanitarian aid access to the affected Palestinian population.

Dar and Fidan expressed deep concern over the increasing civilian death toll, especially among women and children. They reiterated their commitment to a two-state solution, stressing that peace in the Middle East is only possible through the creation of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

This conversation took place ahead of the high-level UN conference on the Palestinian issue, which began today in New York, co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia. Pakistan affirmed its full support for the initiative and urged the international community to take concrete steps to end the violence and ensure justice for the Palestinian people.

In a related development, Ishaq Dar also held a discussion with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, to strengthen regional cooperation on the Palestinian cause. Pakistan and Türkiye’s joint stance sends a strong diplomatic message and reflects the growing frustration of Muslim-majority countries over global inaction in the face of ongoing atrocities in Gaza.

Political analysts believe this coordinated call from Islamabad and Ankara may influence global forums like the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take urgent and meaningful action. Both countries reiterated their readiness to collaborate with all peace-loving nations to restore calm, protect civilians, and support long-term stability through diplomatic channels.
