Modi Vows to Protect Farmers, Cut Taxes, and Drive Self-Reliance on Independence Day 2025

On the economic front, Modi announced sweeping reforms to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), aimed at easing the burden on households. By October — just ahead of the Diwali shopping season — GST will be streamlined into two simplified slabs for essential goods, reducing prices on everyday items and stimulating consumer spending. The Prime Minister also revealed the creation of a “Next-Generation Reforms Task Force” to slash compliance costs, cut bureaucratic delays, and foster innovation. In a significant technological boost, he promised that “Made in India” semiconductor chips will reach the market before the year ends, positioning India as a key player in the global tech industry. On national security, Modi unveiled the “Sudarshan Chakra” defence system, an advanced capability designed to enhance India’s military readiness amid regional tensions. This initiative reflects the government’s intent to maintain a strong defence posture while pursuing economic growth.
