Iran Arrests 8 Suspected Mossad Spies in Major Counterintelligence Operation

On 30 August 2025, Iran announced the arrest of eight individuals suspected of working for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency. The operation, carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was described as a significant counterintelligence breakthrough in the midst of growing regional tensions.

According to Iranian state media, the suspects were allegedly providing sensitive information, including coordinates of military installations and strategic assets, directly to Israeli handlers. Officials confirmed that communication devices, encrypted tools, and explosive materials were seized during the arrests. This development comes only weeks after Iran executed a nuclear scientist for passing classified information to Mossad, reflecting Tehran’s hardline approach against espionage activities.

Authorities have not released the names of the detainees but emphasized that the group was part of a wider espionage network aiming to destabilize Iran’s security framework. The wave of investigations highlights Tehran’s belief that foreign intelligence services, especially Mossad, are working extensively inside Iran to weaken its defenses and international standing.
