Hajj 2026: Pakistan Announces Digital Registration, New Quota and Estimated Cost for Pilgrims – Full Update August 3, 2025

Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced important updates for Hajj 2026, focusing on digital registration, a likely increase in quota, and a new estimated cost range. Announced on August 3, 2025, these updates aim to streamline the application process, improve transparency, and ensure Pakistani pilgrims have a smoother Hajj experience.

For the first time, the entire registration process will shift online. Applicants can now register through the official Hajj portal or the Pak Hajj App, making it easier to upload documents, choose package preferences, and track application status without visiting government offices. This digital shift is expected to minimize corruption and improve processing speed.

Additionally, Pakistan is likely to receive an increased Hajj quota in 2026, with final numbers to be confirmed after bilateral talks with Saudi Arabia. Officials are optimistic due to Pakistan's consistent performance in organizing successful Hajj missions in recent years.

Applicants will need to provide a valid passport, CNIC, health certificate, and biometric data. NADRA will conduct biometric verification in collaboration with the Ministry to ensure proper identification. Saudi health protocols will also require all pilgrims to have updated vaccinations and health clearance before departure.

Although the official cost has not been finalized, the government estimates that the Hajj 2026 package under the government scheme will range between PKR 1,100,000 to PKR 1,300,000. Private operators may charge higher rates, up to PKR 2 million, depending on services. A Hajj sponsorship scheme may also be reintroduced, enabling overseas Pakistanis to sponsor relatives for pilgrimage.

Strict monitoring of private Hajj operators will be enforced to protect pilgrims from exploitation. The ministry warns that any tour operator violating guidelines will face penalties or blacklisting.

Online registration is expected to open in October 2025, while balloting and final quota details will be shared once the agreement with Saudi Arabia is complete. Pilgrims are encouraged to rely only on official sources for updates and begin preparations early to avoid delays.

With these updates, the government aims to make Hajj 2026 a more efficient, affordable, and safe journey for Pakistani Muslims fulfilling their spiritual obligation.
