Field Marshal Asim Munir Visits Flood-Hit Kasur and Jalalpur Pirwala
On 13 September 2025, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the flood-affected districts of Kasur and Jalalpur Pirwala (Multan) to review rescue and relief operations and to meet displaced residents.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Field Marshal received detailed briefings on the extent of damage and the progress of ongoing relief work. He inspected joint civil-military operations, praising the dedication and high morale of Rescue 1122 teams, police personnel, and army troops working around the clock to help victims.
During his interactions with flood survivors, Munir assured families that the government and armed forces would provide full support for resettlement and rehabilitation. Grateful residents thanked both the civil administration and the army for swift rescue efforts that saved lives and protected property.
Emphasizing the need for long-term solutions, the Field Marshal stated that “the state cannot afford the loss of precious lives and property every year.” He called for immediate investment in stronger flood-protection infrastructure, including embankments, drainage upgrades, and early-warning systems, to reduce the impact of future monsoon disasters.
Munir also conducted aerial reconnaissance along the Lahore–Kasur and Multan–Jalalpur Pirwala corridors, allowing him to gauge the scale of destruction and to prioritize reconstruction zones. He highlighted the importance of close civil-military coordination to ensure efficient disaster management and swift delivery of aid.
Experts note that this year’s unprecedented monsoon rains have triggered widespread flooding across Punjab, displacing thousands and destroying crops. Analysts believe the Field Marshal’s visit underscores the urgency of resilient infrastructure and disaster-preparedness planning to prevent recurring crises.
Government officials accompanying the tour pledged that rehabilitation projects would be accelerated so that affected communities can return to normal life as quickly as possible.
This visit reflects Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to protecting citizens from natural disasters and demonstrates the vital role of integrated relief operations in the face of climate-driven emergencies.
