East Jerusalem Shooting: Six Dead, Eleven Injured in September 8 Attack
On 8 September 2025, East Jerusalem was shaken by a deadly shooting when two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a crowded bus stop near Ramot Junction. The attack claimed the lives of six civilians and left eleven others injured, deepening tensions in the already volatile region.
Eyewitnesses described panic as commuters scrambled for safety, with chilling dashboard camera footage showing terrified bystanders fleeing and wounded victims lying on the ground.
Israeli police confirmed that the attackers, identified as residents of a village near Ramallah, were shot and killed at the scene by an off-duty soldier and an armed civilian. Emergency responders rushed victims to nearby hospitals, with several reported in critical condition. The victims included men and women between the ages of 30 and 50.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the attack site, condemning the assault as a “terrorist act” and pledging stronger measures against militant groups. Security forces launched immediate raids across the West Bank, targeting areas linked to the assailants.
In response, Hamas and Islamic Jihad praised the attack, framing it as retaliation for Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank. Analysts warn this latest bloodshed risks escalating violence, further undermining fragile peace efforts.
The shooting adds to growing instability in the region, where Israeli military operations in Gaza and rising tensions in the West Bank have already sparked humanitarian and security concerns.
