YouTuber Ducky Bhai Sent to Jail on 14-Day Judicial Remand
On 8 September 2025, a Lahore court ordered Pakistani YouTuber Saad ur Rehman, better known as Ducky Bhai, to be sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand. The ruling came after the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) requested an extension of his physical remand, which the court declined, transferring him instead to judicial custody.
Ducky Bhai was originally arrested on 17 August 2025 at Lahore Airport, allegedly while attempting to leave the country. Authorities quickly added his name to the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL), preventing him from traveling abroad.
According to NCCIA, the YouTuber is accused of promoting illegal online gambling and betting apps such as Binomo, 1xBet, Bet365, and B9 Game. Investigators further allege that he acted as a “country manager” for one of these apps and received significant financial benefits in return.
The First Information Report (FIR) cites multiple charges under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (Sections 13, 14, 25, and 26) as well as provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code (Sections 294-B and 420). These charges include online fraud, deceptive promotion, and exploiting the public through misleading advertisements.
Earlier hearings had already seen the court extend his physical remand several times to allow further investigation. Most recently, his remand was extended by three days. However, in this latest development, the judge rejected further extensions and ordered a 14-day judicial remand instead.
Ducky Bhai is among Pakistan’s most popular YouTubers, boasting millions of subscribers. His arrest has sparked heated debate on social media and in mainstream circles. Many of his supporters argue that the charges are excessive, while critics insist that influencers must be held accountable for promoting harmful platforms.
Legal experts believe this case could set a precedent for stricter regulation of digital influencers in Pakistan. With social media rapidly shaping public opinion and commerce, the government is increasingly under pressure to tighten oversight of online content and promotions.
The controversy surrounding Ducky Bhai highlights a broader issue: the responsibility of influencers in endorsing products and services. As the case unfolds, it is likely to influence future policies on how digital creators engage with audiences, particularly when financial stakes and public trust are involved.
For now, Saad ur Rehman remains in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings. His case serves as a reminder that the digital space is no longer beyond the reach of Pakistan’s legal system.
